    Environmental and Health Friendly PU (polyurethane) Adhesive Solutions in Woodworking
    對環境及人體友善木工用聚氨酯接著劑解決方案

    Abstract:
    The concern of the health risk from volatile organic compouds (VOCs) has been rising in recent years. The organic solvents in conventional adhesives for woodworking and interior decoration are the major source of VOCs, and the solvents can cause irritations and negative health effects on woodworkers and also comsumers.
    We have developed a noval solvent-free Liquid Polyurethane Reactive (LPUR) adhesive system suitable for laminating and edge joining applications. It can develop an excellent initial (green) strength whin a very short time, thus overcoming the drawback of weak green strength in the convensional PUR products. The LPUR system also performs low viscosity and good workability at room temperature, therefore it can save lots of energy comsuption and equipment investment when comparing to the hotmelt adhesives.
    The environmentally friendly solvent-free moisture-reactive polyurethane adhesive contains highly reactive -NCO and -NHCOO- groups, which readily react with compounds containing active hydrogen and moisture in the air to form urea bond structures.
    This study aims to develop liquid polyurethane reactive (LPUR) products that can be operated at room temperature and exhibit high storage stability, by selecting low viscosity polyol-based raw materials and incorporating additives.

    在科技發展日新月異下,生活水準也隨著提高。人們對木材及木製品的需求迅速增大,相對的木材用接著劑的需求也顯著增加。木工常見的接著劑:溶劑型接著劑其中原料含有大量揮發性有機溶劑如甲苯、丁酮、丙酮、正己烷、正庚烷等各家有所區別。使用者在操作時若無配戴安全防護具,大量揮發性有機溶劑逸散除了有強烈刺激氣味外,也會導致使用者有極高的暴露危害。
    本研究旨在開發一環保無溶劑型濕氣反應聚氨酯接著劑(Liquid Polyurethane Reactive , LPUR),應用於高含水率木材貼合與拼接,並克服LPUR無初期力之缺點,可以在短時間內呈現極佳的初期強度與後期接著性。該款接著劑在室溫下為液態,不必像反應型熱融膠需要加熱熔融就能直接塗佈操作,可節省大量能耗與昂貴的機械設備。透過選用低黏度之多元醇原料及添加助劑搭配,開發出可是溫室操作且具有高儲存安定性的LPUR產品。
