This prized geographical location, along with its high-performance facilities and personnel, enables worldwide transportation with high efficiency. The Port of Kaohsiung has been servicing the world as a key transshipment hub for inter-continental and regional shipping lanes, linking the world’s major cities to the global manufacturing centers, including China, Vietnam, and Thailand and the major regional ports, like Tokyo, Shanghai, Manila, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Industries

Kaohsiung continues to evolve, rising from an industrial manufacturing city into a young and vibrant metropolis through continuous and innovative industrial improvements. As part of the overall plan to develop Kaohsiung into a full-fledged international city, the city initiated the Asian New Bay Area Redevelopment Projects. The project repositions the city as a hub for industrial innovation and brought in public and private resources, including capital and human resources, to develop the industries of tourism, exhibition and convention, digital content, cultural and creative innovations, agricultural products processing and smart logistics.

Why Kaohsiung now?

Long renowned as a hub of logistics and manufacturing industries, the Port of Kaohsiung has evolved and is now characterized by streams of visitors and intelligent services. The “Asia’s New Bay Area” project marks Kaohsiung’s initiative in developing towards industrial transformation, and the MICE industry, a newly-emerging industry in recent years, is one of the focal points. The well-established hardware and software related to MICE, along with Kaohsiung’s iconic image as a maritime city, have come to serve as a phenomenal force to attract more business opportunities for the City’s tourism and MICE industries. It is anticipated that the joint efforts by the government and all sectors of society will put Kaohsiung’s industrial, harbor and cost advantages into full play, thereby enabling it to join the lineup of the world’s major host cities for MICE events.
